About the Congress

The 1st International Congress on Turkish and World Women’s Studies was held in Turkistan, Kazakhstan — the spiritual homeland of the ancient Turkic world. The 2nd Congress took place at Baku Girls’ University in Azerbaijan, and the 3rd Congress was hosted by Atatürk University in Erzurum on October 4–6, 2024.

The 4th International Congress on Turkish and World Women’s Studies will be held on December 12–14, 2025, in Istanbul (Türkiye), in collaboration with Bayrampaşa Municipality and the Association of Turks in Bulgaria.

Organized by distinguished scholars in the field, the congress aims to provide a platform for sharing research on Turkish and world women and to foster interdisciplinary academic discussions. The event will include studies encompassing all aspects of women’s lives.

Within this framework, topics such as the historical position of women, their role in the family, legal rights and achievements, status in science, art, politics, socio-cultural and economic spheres, violence against women, women’s education, women’s health, the role of women in child development and education, and representation of women in the media will be addressed.

Furthermore, considering the fact that women and children continue to bear the heaviest consequences of wars and mass migrations, and that violence against women remains a global issue, the congress will also explore how artificial intelligence technologies in the digital age have the potential to transform the position of women in education, employment, and social life. Thus, the discussions will not only focus on historical and cultural contexts but also on new opportunities and risks for women’s empowerment in light of contemporary technological developments.

The International Congress on Turkish and World Women’s Studies will be conducted in accordance with the principles outlined in the “Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action” adopted at the Fourth World Conference on Women (Beijing, 1995).
