About the Congress
The first International Turkic and World Women’s Studies Congress was held in Turkistan, Kazakhstan, one of the spiritual and cultural centers of the ancient Turkic world. The second congress was hosted by Baku Girls University in Azerbaijan, while the third was held in Erzurum on 4–6 October 2024, hosted by Atatürk University. The Fourth International Turkic and World Women’s Studies Congress was held in Istanbul on 12–14 December 2025, in cooperation with the Association of Bulgarian Turks and the Atatürk Principles and History of Turkish Revolution Research and Application Center of Gaziantep University.
The 5th International Turkic and World Women’s Studies Congress will be held on 2–4 October 2026 in Almaty, Kazakhstan, our ancestral homeland, hosted by the Kazakh National Women’s Teacher Training University, in cooperation with TURKSOY, the Astana Yunus Emre Institute Turkish Cultural Center, and the Atatürk Principles and History of Turkish Revolution Research and Application Center of Gaziantep University.
This year, under the theme “Women in a Changing World: Rights, Equality, Transformation and the Future,” the congress will address issues including women’s historical and social status, women’s rights, education, health, science, arts, politics, economy, employment, entrepreneurship, violence against women, and the representation of women in the media. In addition, the impacts of war, migration, and global crises on women, as well as approaches aimed at strengthening women’s participation in social and political life, will be discussed.
The transformative potential of digitalization and artificial intelligence technologies on women’s positions in education, employment, science, and social life will also constitute an important area of discussion. Alongside the new opportunities offered by artificial intelligence, issues such as digital inequality, algorithmic bias, and the potential risks posed by technological transformation for women will be examined from an interdisciplinary perspective.
The congress aims to contribute to strengthening women’s rights, developing an egalitarian and inclusive vision for the future, and enhancing international academic cooperation in accordance with the fundamental principles set forth in the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, adopted at the Fourth World Conference on Women held in Beijing in 1995.
