About the Congress
The 1st International Congress on Turkic and World Women’s Studies was held in Turkistan, Kazakhstan, the spiritual homeland of the ancient Turkic world; the 2nd Congress took place at Baku Girls’ University in Azerbaijan; and the 3rd Congress was hosted by Atatürk University (Erzurum) on October 4–6, 2024.
The “4th International Congress on Turkic and World Women’s Studies” will be held on December 12–14, 2025, in Istanbul, in cooperation with the Association of Bulgarian Turks and the Gaziantep University Atatürk’s Principles and History of Reforms Research and Application Center.
Organized by distinguished scholars in their fields, the aim of the congress is to share research related to Turkic and world women and to create a scientific platform for interdisciplinary discussions. The congress will include studies covering all aspects of women’s lives.
In this context, topics such as the historical position of women, their role in the family, legal achievements, and their status in science, art, politics, socio-cultural, and economic spheres will be addressed. In addition, issues such as violence against women, women’s education, women’s health, the role of women in child development and education, and the representation of women in the media will be discussed. Moreover, considering that women and children experience the most severe consequences of wars and mass migrations today, that violence against women remains a global problem, and that artificial intelligence technologies in the digital age have the potential to transform women’s position in education, employment, and social life, the congress will explore not only historical and cultural contexts but also new opportunities and risks for women’s empowerment in the light of contemporary technological developments.
The International Congress on Turkic and World Women’s Studies will be conducted in line with the principles set forth in the “Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action”, adopted at the Fourth World Conference on Women (Beijing, 1995).
